Burning Issues in California

Despite billions of taxpayers dollars being spent, 172,000 people are homeless in California (30% of the nation's total) and the number keeps growing.
Our state’s sanctuary status has encouraged asylum seeking immigrants to come here, taking jobs and resources from citizens.
California is unaffordable, with higher than average gas, utility, food, and housing prices. This contributes to homelessness, hunger, and an increase in criminal activity.
Legislators are favoring criminals over victims as law & order decreases along with our safety and general quality of life.
California public schools rank as some of the lowest in the nation, while $128 billion is spent on K-12 education and 75% of California students lack proficiency in core subjects.
Higher education is getting too costly and is ineffective in preparing today’s generation of workers. It’s no wonder an average of 50% of California students drop out of college.
Our climate is changing, and we need to understand what we can and cannot impact.

Solutions

We Need Solutions… Not Soundbites.

Provide the same relief from environmental regulations and fees that builders of sports stadiums and other local revenue boosters receive, so that low-cost homes can be available for the poor and the homeless.
Prioritize tax dollars to build and staff facilities to accommodate, serve and educate the homeless, including those in need of mental illness and substance abuse services.
Repeal California’s Sanctuary State status and prioritize services for citizens over asylum seekers.
Reduce taxes and fees on gas, food, and other essential items.
Create incentives for landlords to increase their available rentals units by balancing the rights of landlords and tenants.
Audit all state agencies to identify and avoid duplication and close ineffective, costly programs.
Allow law enforcement to do their jobs, and require that district attorney’s prosecute criminals as a disincentive to repeat offenders.
Law enforcement budgets should reflect the needs of the local population, and technology should be used to reduce crime and protect what are now fearful communities and business owners.
Public education must prioritize preparing students for today’s workplace. This includes those who are seeking jobs requiring higher education, and those who plan to work in the trades.
Taxpayers should have access to a school district’s budget allocations, which should be subject to audits to increase proficiency.
School districts should be allowed to control their curriculum including ethics, the dangers of substance abuse, and civics that instill patriotism in American youth.
The State and Federal governments should not take away local control of school districts, including policies relating to health and social values.
Parents should be in control of all aspects of their child’s health and well-being, including having the opportunity to opt out of age-inappropriate events and teachings. Parents should have the right to observe any school activity or class that impacts their child. Parents should also have the right to move their child to another public or charter school.
Reduce the costs of state colleges and relate tuition to the amount the student can be expected to earn. The goal should be to avoid the need for large student loans that become a burden to students once they graduate.
Zero tolerance of discrimination based on religion, color, caste, race, sex, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, national origin etc. Policies should promote equality, rather than equity.
To reduce the speed of climate change, we must use good science to control our impact on the earth and understand how to adjust to a warming climate.
